Along with surgical lasers, one of the most important tools we have is platelet rich fibrin, or PRF.
PRF is made from a small sample of your own blood, assuring that it’s both biocompatible and free of synthetics. The sample is spun in a special centrifuge to create a membrane that’s placed on your surgical site where it stimulates bone and soft tissue growth.
PRF is especially well-suited for cavitational surgeries, as it also encourages the formation of new capillaries, ensuring good blood flow to the site. (Lack of blood flow is a key reason why osteonecrotic lesions – “cavitations” – develop as they do.) Increased blood flow helps clear any lingering pathogens and other toxins so healthy new tissues can regenerate.
What this means for you is better, quicker healing and less post-op discomfort.
