Biocompatible Fillings & Crowns

Here at Orlando Holistic Dental Studio, our focus is on prevention. But if your teeth should become damaged or decay, we can repair them with biocompatible restorations that look and feel just like your natural teeth.

Why Does Biocompatibility Matter?

There are literally thousands of different dental materials available that can be used in countless variations. Some of these may contain compounds that interact badly with your personal biochemistry. Clearly, we want to avoid those and use only materials that you will not be reactive or sensitive to.

This is especially important if you have any chronic health conditions or known sensitivities.

Fillings

If a tooth isn’t severely decayed or damaged, a filling is often the choice to restore the strength and integrity of your tooth while preventing further decay.

First, decay is removed from the tooth, and its surfaces are prepared to hold the filling. A tooth-colored resin is placed and built up to recreate the original surfaces so your bite feels comfortable and natural. The resin is cured with a special light to ensure a good seal and maximum hardness.

At Orlando Holistic Dental Studio, we use only BPA-free composite resins to restore your healthy smile. The result is strong and durable.

CEREC One-Day Crowns

When damage to a tooth is more extreme, a crown may be called for to restore its look and function. Any decay is removed and the tooth prepared so the crown may be comfortably cemented on top to replace the original tooth surface.

Once upon a time, this meant two dental visits at least – one to remove the decay and prepare the tooth, one to place the final restorations. In between those two visits, a temporary crown would be placed while dental lab technicians crafted the final crown.

While crowns can still be done this way, a technology called CEREC has made it possible to get a crown made in a single visit.
